PET LOSS AND GRIEF
I was listening to a podcast on Grief Refuge where Colin Ellis was being interviewed and interestingly, she was talking about dog owners and dog parents. Initially, I thought that it couldn’t be so different, but as she explained further, I got to understand really what it meant to be a pet parent and I realised at that instant that the relationship I and my family had with our dog Rex was Pet parents.

FEAR IN GRIEF
What makes a person afraid when a loved one dies? I have pondered over this question for years and I would love to get the chance to research further on it.

GRIEVING IN ANGER
Anyone who takes a course on grief must come across Kubler Ross’s stages of grief. And though that theory has been disputed in so many ways, I believe the dispute can only remain within the confines of the prescribed occurrence of the stages. The fact is that a person would experience these emotions or state of mind at one time or the other during the grieving process. The stages referred to here are denial, anger, depression, bargaining, acceptance. There are different ways to view each of these reactions, but let me try to examine anger in this article.

THE DARK TRIAD: CONCLUSION.
And the last Friday of the month of May is here. Time flies by so quickly, it feels like there is something chasing the months, but then the clock still works the same way it has always done, which means the world has become a beehive of activities and while we struggle to wade through one challenge, another comes up and when we manage to pop our heads to see what is happening, we realise it’s a new day.

THE DARK TETRADS: A DEEPER LOOK INTO THE "LEKKI BABES' SAGA
I read a result from a Google search that said, women are more drawn to men who exhibit traits of the dark tetrad. I would have laughed this off, but then I realised, it’s really plausible, most people who fall in the tetrad category also exude strength, ruggedness, control, fearlessness. These are great specs for a woman seeking a ‘real man’ until you realise it’s not just about that.

GRIEF AND LOSS: THE PAIN OF NEGLECT
According to Fitzpatrick We often think of grief as something we experience only when a loved one dies. But when you loose something that you are attached too, something really precious, your heart gets crushed and you suffer pain and symptoms that are only relatable to grief.

PASSIVE AGGRESSIVE PERSONALITY DISORDER
It is said that in every theory ever written about man’s personality , the most profound question has been ‘where is the person?’. Monte would further break this question in to several others, a few of which are:

CAN THE UNCONSCIOUS TAKE OVER?
There is something interesting about the unconscious ; it is not only a place where contents or issues that have lost intensity go to lie. Jung would argue that the unconscious has a more complex role. It performs retrospective and prospective functions; it is able to look backwards into the past , look forward into the future, and present a solution to a challenge that we are yet to fathom in the conscious.

Trauma Wounds: Hidden Aggression in Relationships
“If it is a shallow relationship, when it falls apart, the pain will be slight. And the joy that relationship brings each day will also be slight. It is precisely because one can gain the courage to enter into deeper relationships by having confidence in others that the joy of one’s interpersonal relations can grow, and one’s joy in life can grow, too”

GRIEF: A PAIN THAT NEVER ENDS
When I was putting down the points for today’s blog, I didn’t think an event would come up and plunge me into grief. I was going to analyse the loss suffered in the relationships I wrote about previously. Then, the train attack happened on Monday and it changed everything.

TRAUMA OF ABANDONMENT.
Psychology is a very interesting subject. I still can’t believe I rejected it for my first degree. What did I know then? We barely had any form of career counselling . Everybody wanted to be everything except a psychologist. And then, life happened and I wanted to understand the human mind a bit more. What is most intriguing is the research after research, theories after theories that sometimes is meant to just explain a single phenomenon. Makes you wonder a bit about, the creation of man. We really cannot comprehend God.

CHILDHOOD TRAUMA: THE MAKING OF AN ANGRY ADULT
Someone described anger as ‘unmet expectations’. I thought this definition seemed really apt. I mean, if I expect my husband to show up at 7pm for dinner and he doesn’t, I would be a bit upset, but I would get really angry if he showed up an hour later, without an explanation or an apology. My expectations of ‘being valued, being respected’ would definitely be unmet.

WHEN TRAUMA SWITCHES OFF YOUR BRAIN
I always silently feel proud of the fact that I can write, it comes naturally, the story line flows from one line of thought to another. So when I decided I would start a blog , I didn’t think it would be such a task. I already had a food blog I had been working on. I just wanted to make this new blog about psychological experiences. I figured, since It’s what I do everyday with my clients, it should be easy, except everything in me that could create a good story went to sleep.
